Einladung zum Workshop am 10. Oktober in Magdeburg

Nach dem islamistischen Anschlag auf den Berliner CSD:
Wie sichern wir queere Veranstaltungen in Zukunft ab?

Ein Workshop im Rahmen der EPOA-Jahreshauptversammlung 2026

Vom 9. bis 11. Oktober 2026 kommen Pride-Organisationen aus ganz Europa zur jährlichen Hauptversammlung (Annual General Meeting, AGM) der European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) in Magdeburg zusammen. Im Rahmen dieser internationalen Zusammenkunft laden wir am Samstag, 10. Oktober, zu einem gemeinsamen Workshop über die Sicherheit queerer Veranstaltungen ein.

Der Schreck sitzt uns allen noch in den Knochen, als im Umfeld der Abschlusskundgebung des Berliner CSD ein islamistischer Anschlag verübt wurde.
Eine Frau aus Polen starb und viele Menschen wurden teilweise schwer durch Hieb- und Stichwunden verletzt.

Wir wollen uns am 10. Oktober in Magdeburg treffen und über die weiteren Schritte beraten.
Angesprochen sind Organisatoren von kleinen und großen Festen, CSD und Prideaufzügen in ganz Europa.

Zu Beginn gibt es Inputs von der Queerbeauftragten Sophie Koch sowie von Praktikern aus den Leitungsteams der CSD in Zürich, London, Oslo und Berlin.

Eine persönliche Schilderung soll zudem Einblicke in islamistische Ideologien und die Motive geben, die hinter der Planung und Durchführung solcher Anschläge stehen.

Gemeinsam mit Fachpersonen aus Halle, Potsdam und Berlin sprechen wir außerdem über die akute Bedrohung durch die extreme Rechte – sowohl online als auch auf der Straße.

Am Ende wollen wir konkrete Schritte vereinbaren: Wie können wir als Community dauerhaft voneinander lernen, Erfahrungen teilen und unsere Veranstaltungen besser schützen?

Following the Islamist attack on Berlin Pride:
How can we keep queer events safe in the future?

A workshop held as part of the EPOA Annual General Meeting 2026
From 9 to 11 October 2026, Pride organisations from across Europe will gather in Magdeburg for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA). As part of this international gathering, we invite you to a joint workshop on the safety of queer events on Saturday, 10 October.

We are all still deeply shaken by the Islamist attack near the closing rally of Berlin Pride. A woman from Poland died, and many people suffered injuries from stabbing and slashing, some of them severe.

We want to meet in Magdeburg on 10 October to discuss the next steps. The workshop is aimed at organisers of small and large festivals, CSDs and Pride marches across Europe.

The workshop will begin with contributions from Queer Commissioner Sophie Koch and practitioners from the Pride organising teams in Zurich, London, Oslo and Berlin.

A personal account will also offer insights into Islamist ideologies and the motives behind the planning and execution of such attacks.

Together with specialists from Halle, Potsdam and Berlin, we will also discuss the immediate threat posed by the far right – both online and on the streets.

At the end, we want to agree on concrete steps: How can we, as a community, continue learning from one another, share experiences and better protect our events?
